GymReel Privacy Policy

Welcome to GymReel ("GymReel", "we", "our", or "us"). GymReel is a fitness and social networking platform that allows users to track workouts, share fitness content, and interact with other users.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the GymReel mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

By using GymReel, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

1. Who We Are

GymReel is operated from the United Kingdom. For the purposes of applicable privacy laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation ("UK GDPR"), the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("EU GDPR"), and applicable United States privacy laws, GymReel acts as the data controller of your personal information.

Depending on your settings, this content may be visible to other users or publicly accessible.

3.3 Fitness and Activity Data

We collect fitness-related information you choose to log, including:

  • Sets and repetitions
  • Weight and performance metrics
  • Workout history
  • Fitness progress

We only process this information to provide app functionality and improve the user experience. GymReel does not currently process health data for medical purposes.

3.4 Device and Technical Information

We may automatically collect limited technical information, including:

  • Device identifiers
  • Device type and operating system
  • App version
  • Crash reports
  • Security and diagnostic information
  • Basic usage information

We currently do not use behavioural advertising or advanced analytics tools, but may introduce analytics services in the future. Where legally required, we will obtain your consent before enabling non-essential tracking technologies.

3.5 Location Information

GymReel may offer optional GPS-based workout tracking features. If enabled, we may collect:

  • Approximate location
  • GPS workout routes
  • Movement/activity tracking during workouts

Location tracking is disabled by default and will only be activated with your permission. You may revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings.

GymReel does not sell personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). We also do not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

7. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with trusted service providers who help us operate GymReel.

7.1 Firebase / Google Cloud

We use services provided by Google including:

  • Firebase Authentication
  • Cloud Firestore
  • Cloud Storage
  • Security and infrastructure services

These providers may process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, and other approved safeguards.

7.2 Public Content

If you choose to make content public:

  • Other users may view it
  • Content may be reshared externally
  • Search engines or third parties may index public content where applicable

You are responsible for the privacy settings you choose.

7.3 Legal Compliance

We may disclose information where necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, protect users or the public, or prevent fraud or security threats.

8. International Data Transfers

GymReel operates internationally. Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your jurisdiction, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country. Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards to protect your information.

9. Data Retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including maintaining your account, providing Services, legal compliance, security, and dispute resolution.

  • Account data: retained until deletion
  • User content: retained until removed

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable timeframe unless retention is legally required.

12. Children's Privacy

GymReel is not intended for children under 13. Users under 18 should obtain permission from a parent or guardian before using the Services where required by local law.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that information has been collected from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. Certain jurisdictions may require higher minimum ages.

GymReel Terms of Use

Effective Date: 1 May 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using GymReel, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.

2. Eligibility

You must:

  • Be at least 13 years old
  • Have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms

If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

3. Account Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information
  • Keep credentials secure
  • Accept responsibility for activity under your account

You may not:

  • Share accounts
  • Impersonate others
  • Circumvent bans or restrictions

4. Acceptable Use

You may not post content that:

  • Is unlawful
  • Promotes violence or self-harm
  • Harasses or exploits others
  • Contains hate speech
  • Is sexually explicit or exploitative

5. User Content Licence

You retain ownership of your content.

By uploading content, you grant GymReel a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, share, and distribute your content solely for operating and improving the Services.

This licence ends when content is deleted, except where content has already been shared with others or retention is legally required.

6. Content Visibility

You control visibility settings for your content. Public content may be visible outside the platform.

7. Moderation

We may remove content, restrict visibility, or suspend/terminate accounts where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, maintain platform integrity, or comply with law.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms or misuse of the Services. You may stop using GymReel or delete your account at any time.

9. Health and Fitness Disclaimer

GymReel does not provide medical advice. All fitness content is for informational purposes only. You should consult qualified professionals before beginning exercise programmes or making health decisions.

10. Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge that physical exercise carries inherent risks. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you use GymReel at your own risk.

11. Service Availability

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Services. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

12. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE". To the fullest extent permitted by law, GymReel disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

13. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where exclusion is unlawful.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • GymReel is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Total liability is limited to the greater of amounts paid by you to GymReel in the previous 12 months, or £100 GBP

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply.

14. Third-Party Services

GymReel may integrate with third-party services. We are not responsible for third-party platforms, content, or services.

15. Privacy

Use of GymReel is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use after updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

17. Governing Law

For users in the United Kingdom and Europe, these Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales unless mandatory local consumer laws apply. For users in the United States or other jurisdictions, mandatory local consumer protections may also apply.
